Music of Russia

Russia has alot of categories when it comes to its music. At early times in Russia music begin with the ritual folk and orthodox church music but with the passage of time like in early 19 century classic music and afterwards various different music genres came in large and diversified Russia country. In modern times Russian music developed Russian Pop, Russian hip hop and Russian Rock which is quite

popular in the world.

Early stages of Russian music was mostly based on operas. Ivan Susanin , Ruslan and lyudmila these two operas gained a huge fame despite that they were not in Russian language and nor they were the really first operas but the artist used the Russian tunes and themes. Groups called “ The Mighty Five” composed Russian traditions into the classic music. The two main composers Glinka and The Mighty Five worked on Russian history, Folk tales and Literature. They gained alot of fame and known as the  master pieces of Russian nationalism in music.

Afterwards the music changed dramatically in 20 century as the music were more based on synthetic chords. Aleksandr Scriabin, Sergey Rachmaninoff, Igor starvinksy these composers dominated by composing music based on the piano and orchestra. Artist like Sergey Prokofiev dominated in soviet music. After him Edison Denisov, Sofia Gubaidulina and Alfred Schnikkte played a huge role in soviet music.

In 21 century Pop. Rock. And hip hop dominated more in Russian. Artist Rauf and Faik released a song “Childhood” which had 231 million views on youtube and gained fame in entire world. Artist MC Doni song “ You are so” has 256 million views. Electronic music is more in these days as it is listened by the new generation and Russia is quite famous for it.
