Music of Brazil

Brazil is a large country it comes 5th in the world when it comes to its land mass even America is smaller than Brazil in land mass. There are two very famous genres of Brazil which is heard internationally and I well liked. They are “ Samba” and “ Bossa Nova”. This music is recognized as a Latin music in world. Brazil has much more genres which are famous and liked by their local people. In Brazil music plays a huge role in the people life and their music is as broad as their land and as their diversified people are.



Some of the other famous genres in Brazil are “ Lundo and maxixe”, “choro”, “Baiao and forro”, “MPB” ( Mpb is used in Brazil to describe their pop music which was originated in 1960’s). And their are alot more. Some of their famous music intruments which are used in making music are “ Agogo bells” these are used in making of rituals music. “ Accordion, flute,violin” these are used in the Portuguese songs known as fado and moda. “Percussion” these are often used in African style music but most commonly used in all music in Brazil. “ Atabaque” this is an hand drum mostly used in all music.
Brazil music lyrics comes from the their history and refers to their cultures and people. In every different genre the lyrics describe something else like in “ capoeira” the lyrics are more towards freedom, mostly sea’s, the water etc. And in “forro” the lyrics mostly indicate more of love and romance. Brazil celebrate everything with music, in Brazil festivals and carnivals are really famous and music is a big part of it.
Some of the famous Brazilian artists are “ Chico Buarque”, “Tim maia”, “Luiz Gonzaga”, “Jorge Ben”, “Tom Jobin”.
Latest famous songs are “Acordando o predio, Abre o Partao Que Eu Chequei, Vidinha de Balada, Pra Te Convencer.
