Music of Australia

Australia has an extra ordinary history about music. In Australia music exists from past 40,000 to 60,000 years. The country had a unofficial anthem “Waltzing Matilda” which was formed by the different colonies of British people and Australian indigenous traditions. The original lyrics of this bush ballad was written by Banjo Paterson and was published in sheet music. And classic folk was brought up by Europeans in Australia.



Music has played a major role in the development of Australia and its people. In the late 18 and 19 century a song “Bound for Botany Bay” was made on the time when Britishers were convicted to Australian colonies. In this song and some of the other songs they described about the hardships they had to gone though. Some the singers like Tex Morton recorded his first song “ The happy Yodeller” and was known as the father of Bush ballad in Australia. The first country music songs which was made by slim Dusty “ Pub with no beer” also gained alot of fame. Till today the country music of Australia is really famous with the artist like Keith Urban.
In 1950’s and 60’s rock music was originated in Australia with artists like Col Joy, Little Pattie and The Delltones. Jimmy Barnes and John farnham performed their music on international platforms.



Classic music has separate fan base in Australia. Around 2500 concerts of classic music yearly take place in Australia and each state has is own symphony orchestra. Classic music is also played in Australian military and they even play it in their concerts and ceremonies.
Today Australian singers play and perform almost every type of music genres and are recognized internationally. Some of the famous artists and bands are Gotye, Delta Goodrem, Jessica mauboy, 5 seconds of summer. 5 seconds of summer is a pop band and is currently well known in the world. In 2014 they released a song “She looks so perfect” which has 261 million views on youtube and a song “ Young blood” which has 119 million views.
