Music of France | Musique de France

French music is a mixture of many music styles it has some latin American, African and some Asian elements. Corsica and mountainous Auvergne are the two of regions that preserve folk music and traditional musical touch which is piano accordion as the centre. Auvergne, Limousine, Morvan, Nirvernais, Bourbonnais and Berry form the centre part of France that hold the french bagpipe and hurdy gurdy music as its core. The hurdy gurdy is the combination of piano accordion and violin and their symphony. This music style can be found be Spain, Russia and Hungary. The Southern Part of France also has its own music, which is called troba muffin, it is Occitan ragga muffin, and it is played by the Massilia Sound system.

If we look at the modern music France, we see an impact of international music specially in hiphop. French hiphop also has a lot of African and Arab hints to it because of the immigration. French music is very popular outside of France specially in Europe. Music Artists like Stromae, Indila, Kendji Girac, Mitre Gims, DADJU, Aya Nakamura are very well known around the Globe. Stromae’s “Alor on Danse” has 209 Million views and “Papaoutai” has 695 million views while Indila’s “Daniére dense” has 624 million views, Mitre Gims’s “Sapés comme jamaise” has  458 million views these are just some examples of how french music is popular around the Globe. French people mostly listen to hiphop music because it we look at their itunes charts almost all the top 20 songs there are hiphop but some of those songs are from outside international artists which tells us that french people are un touch with the international music.

Rap music is quite popular is Europe specially American rap but weird enough it is not that much listened to in France in itunes charts there are no rap songs in top 20. They do listen to rap but as a part of a hiphop not just rap music.
France is also a very football loving country so football music tend to trend there, to give an example Vegedream’s “Remenez la coupe a la maison” which was their Worldcup winning anthem, “Feel the Magic in the air” by Magic System, “This one’s for you” by David Guetta ft Zara Larsson and many more like these.
