Music of Egypt

Music in Egypt is there from ancient times and its a part of their culture now. Traditional music of Egypt had very unique instruments. In early time Folk music was mostly famous in Egypt. From 1970 onward pop music came in and became a part of Egyptian culture. Flute element was used in Egypt at that time and was commonly played in mulids and was known as Ney.
In 20th century Cairo was famous. Folk and pop music and the mixture of it was also brought up in the trend by Cairo. Well known singer of these genres were Abdo’l Iskrandrani and Aid el Gannirni.


Coptic was a genre which was made up by the instrument cymbals, rhythms were used to make it.
Bedouin music of Egypt was played in the deserts of east which is near Libya, a twin pipe clarinet was used to play it and the famous artist of this genre was Awad e Medic. Sha’abi, Al jeel, was also a famous genre in Egypt.

Afterwards more music started to come in Egypt in 21st century Bands were started to come up. They played different genres in various styles and people started to like it. Two of the very firsts bands were Eftekasat and Wust el balad. Those bands mostly played pop music and was inspired by the artist like Amr Diab, Mohamed Mounir and Tamir Housny.

First concert which brought up the death metal band to perform first time in Egypt was scorpians in 2006 and 2008. All the tickets of that concert was sold and crowd was so huge that they had to stop the concert. After that when the bands, pop music, concerts where not enough for the public and they wanted more than the artist started to think and they produced albums. And the very first album was Mirror of vibrations by ODIOUS. And from then till now the music is still on and is a part of their culture.
